To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the Welfare Services Group (WSG) of Personnel Wing held the Caring the Family Seminar, with “Caring Always There” as the theme, at the Police Headquarters on November 19. Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chan Joon-sun officiated at the event. Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups were invited to give lectures on three topics closely related to the officers, namely “We are caregivers”, “A happy marriage starts with financial management” and “New challenge on internet crisis along the growth of children”. These topics covered different aspects of aged parents, couples and children, aiming to foster caring and harmonious families.
In addition to a review on the history and events of WSG, an award presentation ceremony of the thank you letter competition was held, with Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Chan Man-tak and Chief Superintendent of Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch Lee Chung-wah as the award presenters. The competition aimed to encourage colleagues to express their gratitude to the most important people in their lives through words, photos or drawings. The statements of thanks made by the awardees on the stage that day were very touching.
The exhibition panels reviewing the 30 years of WSG will be displayed at the Police Officers’ Club and Police Sports and Recreation Club respectively from December 2024 to January 2025.
