The Narcotics Bureau (NB) collaborated with the Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit for the first time to stage the large-scale carnival “Let’s T.A.L.K. LOL Party” at the West Kowloon Cultural District on November 16 and 17. Being the Force’s first carnival with anti-drug and child protection as the theme, the party combined elements of sports, music and art with triple significance: sustaining the efforts in the large-scale anti-drug exhibitions “Love Our Life - LOL Party” over the past two years, serving as the finale of NB’s Anti-drug Campaign and marking the launch of the “Let’s T.A.L.K. Child Protection Campaign 2024”.
Commissioner Siu Chak-yee stated in his opening speech that anti-drug and child protection had always been major tasks of the Force, and enhancing the knowledge and awareness of young people about drug harm and violent behaviour was the key to effectively reducing drug abuse and child abuse incidents.
The carnival’s kick-off highlight was the Love Our Children Yoga Challenge. 640 participants performed partner yoga together, breaking the world record successfully. The party offered a fantastic lineup of amusement facilities, including giant inflatable rides and a 4m-high capsule machine. Other exciting activities included over a dozen game booths set up by various departments and child welfare institutions, 20 anti-drug themed booths designed and manned by mentees of the Leadership Institute on Narcotics (L.I.O.N.), the 3D post-drug simulation on the promotional truck, the child protection promotional truck, sharing sessions by rehabilitating drug addicts and the evening outdoor concert, which served as the finale highlight to convey the messages of love for life and “Drugs? Never ever!” The event attracted participation of over 17 000 citizens.
