Workshop
The Operations Wing hosted the two-day 15th National Games (NG) Event Management Workshop as the second phase of the Security and Major Event Coordinator Course between December 4 and 5, 2024. Over 30 management representatives from NG Coordination Office (Hong Kong), the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Kai Tak Sports Park Limited were invited to join the workshop for forging partnership and strengthening coordination among the stakeholders.
The workshop not only equipped participants with safety and security knowledge on organising mega events, but also facilitated the stakeholders sharing experience and exchanging insights on the challenges and opportunities therein for optimising the management of sports venues.
Exercises
New Territories North (NTN), Counter Terrorism and Major Incidents Bureau of Operations Wing, and Police Tactical Unit Headquarters jointly conducted major incident and counter-terrorism exercises with the NG Coordination Office (Hong Kong), Fire Services Department and Hospital Authority at the Fanling Golf Courses of Hong Kong Golf Club on November 27, 2024 to strengthen coordination and response amongst the stakeholders during the NG.
The exercises simulated major and counter-terrorism incidents of various degrees occurring in the golf event of NG. The Force collaborated with the personnel from relevant government departments to carry out large-scale evacuation, emergency rescue and incident handling. More than 700 personnel from various formations, including Regional Response Contingent and Emergency Unit of NTN, Tai Po District (TPDIST), Counter Terrorism Response Unit and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau, as well as relevant government departments, took part in the exercises. Members of TPDIST Senior Police Call and volunteers of Agency for Volunteer Service and Hong Kong Volunteers Association were invited to participate in the exercises as staff, injured or affected persons for the public to experience the professionalism of the Force and other departments in handling major incidents.
