SCS’s Commendation Award cum Civil Service Volunteer Commendation Award Presentation Ceremony 2024 was held on November 21, 2024. Secretary for the Civil Service (SCS) Mrs Ingrid Yeung presented the SCS’s Commendation Award to civil servants with persistent exemplary performance. She also presented awards of the inaugural Civil Service Volunteer Commendation Scheme. The Chief Executive Mr John Lee and Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chan Joon-sun attended the ceremony to share the joy with the awardees.
18 Force members were commended this year. The awardees comprised Superintendents Sze Yuk-sim, Kwan Chun-ting, Inspectors Dominic Hibell, Lau Yeuk-lam, Station Sergeants (SSGT) Lam Yiu-cho, Chan Yan-wing, Lai Yuk-fai, Lee Yiu-chung, Chu Wai-leung, Lee Tin-lung, Cheng Chi-fai, Lee Lok-yan, Sergeants Chung Fai, Mok Chun-kit, Tsui Wai-cheong, Wong Wai-lun, Tsang Ho-wai and Senior Police Telecommunications Inspector Chiu Chi-kit.
The newly launched Civil Service Volunteer Commendation Scheme included awards for volunteer teams and individuals. The Force won the Gold Prize of the Outstanding Volunteer Team Award (Large Department) with over 50 000 accumulated hours of volunteer service in 2023-24. Besides, the Police Volunteer Services Corps was awarded the Meritorious Volunteer Service Award while SSGT Lam Hok-chim won the Outstanding Volunteer Leader Award. For individual awards regarding volunteer service hours, 62 serving officers and 23 retired officers were awarded Excellent Volunteer Award and Evergreen Volunteer Award respectively. These awards not only recognise the selfless dedication of each Force volunteer but also embody the spirit of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty”.
