The Recruitment Division (RECDIV) held the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) Orientation Day 2024/25 on November 20, 2024 to welcome the new cohort of trainees. A total of 3 198 trainees have signed up for the programme in 2024/25, seeing an increase of approximately 50.2% in comparison to last year’s figure and showing that young people’s interest in police work has increased.

It was the first time for the orientation to be held in the form of a sports day. The PMP Head Mentor cum Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Chan Man-tak led representatives of various institutions to host the opening ceremony, after which participants engaged in a series of sporting events. A highlight of the day was an exhibition basketball match between the champion team and the recruitment team led by the Head Mentor and the Police Recruitment Spokesperson Ko Chun. A dinner buffet was held that evening to provide an opportunity for in-depth communication among mentors and mentees. The event was joined by over 600 participants comprising mentors and mentees from local, mainland or overseas tertiary institutions or students studying for Diploma of Applied Education.
