Operations of Kowloon West (KW) conducted an annual inter-departmental major incident exercise jointly with West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, Fire Services Department and Auxiliary Medical Service at Xiqu Centre on November 26, 2024. The exercise simulated a fire breaking out during a large-scale event, followed with a stampede resulting in multiple injuries. The officers started the rescue, triage and casualty management operations promptly.

The Yau Tsim Mong District Services and Community Care Team, the Home Affairs Department’s Ethnic Minority Care Team and the Centre for Harmony and Enhancement of Ethnic Minority Residents under Hong Kong Christian Service were invited to join the exercise for testing the TRANSLINK 2.0 service. It was hoped that various community stakeholders and different ethnic groups were connected through this exercise.

TSDIV

Officers from Tin Sum Division (TSDIV) and Emergency Unit (EU) of New Territories South, together with the Hospital Authority and Fire Services Department (FSD), conducted an inter-departmental exercise codenamed TIGHTWOOD at the Prince of Wales Hospital on December 7, 2024 to test and strengthen officers’ response in handling emergencies in a hospital.

More than 200 officers and personnel participated in this exercise, which was the first one in the territory involving mass evacuation of patients from an operating theatre (OT). The exercise simulated a fire and chemical leakage inside the OT which required immediate evacuation. Officers of EU and FSD conducted evacuation at the OT whilst officers of TSDIV promptly set up an inflatable command tent outside the hospital to serve as the command post. A digital camcorder was used to broadcast live footage to the command post for officers to timely assess the situations and make prompt and appropriate deployment.
