The Animal Watchers Programme (AWP) held the “Bring Your Own Pets X Sunny & Zander Charity Run” on December 21, 2024, attracting over 1 000 participants and 500 dogs to join a 3km “Dogathon” along the Pak Shek Kok Promenade, Tai Po. During the event, 333 dog owners and their dogs set the world record for “Most People Kissing Dogs Simultaneously” witnessed by the official adjudicator of the World Record Association.

Commissioner Siu Chak-yee also attended the event to cheer on the participants. In his speech, he pointed out that in addition to collaborating with various organisations to promote public education, the Force was also committed to building partnerships with members of the community to enhance intelligence gathering on cases of animal cruelty, as well as improving the professional knowledge of investigation officers to combat those crimes effectively.

Various promotional booths and photo booths were featured that day for participants to create unforgettable memories with their family, friends, and beloved dogs. The Central Advisory Board of the AWP presented $200 000 donation to the animal charity organisation, House of Joy and Mercy, during the event to support the organisation’s expenses in caring for stray and abandoned animals.
