To prepare for the 15th National Games, Operations Wing (OPS Wing) collaborated with INTERPOL Project Stadia in hosting a course on "Safety and Security Management for Major International Sporting Events" at Police College between February 17 and 21. The course was Phase IV of Security and Major Event Coordinator (“SMECO”) Course, which brought together 18 police commanders, aiming to foster the officers’ knowledge in and preparation for major events. Participants were engaged in interactive discussions to hone their skills in risk assessment and decision making, multi-agency coordination and strategic planning from scenario-based exercises and case studies.
A sharing session on preparation and management of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, where officers from Qatar and France also joined online to deliver presentations, was also organised towards the end of the course to offer valuable insights to over 150 officers.
