To enhance police officers’ professional knowledge and investigative capabilities in combatting commercial crimes, the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) organised the Commercial Crime Advanced Course from January 15 to 17. Experts from law enforcement agencies, financial institutions and regulatory bodies worldwide were invited to share experience and best practices in tackling complex commercial crimes. A total of 54 participants attended the course. In addition to officers from CCB, personnel from law enforcement agencies of overseas countries and Macao, as well as a representative of local regulatory agency, also participated.

The course attendees were taught advanced skills in analysing and investigating complex commercial crimes. The multiple topics covered regulations and anti-money laundering risks, virtual assets investment products, potential frauds, fintech frauds and crimes, as well as the latest Web3 development. The speakers were legal experts and representatives from Hong Kong’s fintech industry. The participants also had the opportunity to visit an AI research institute located in the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park and discuss AI and generative AI with industry experts to explore strategies for combatting financial crime.
