The Hong Kong Police Bodybuilding and Powerlifting Club held the Hong Kong Police Annual Weightlifting Competition on February 15. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, Assistant Commissioner (National Security) (2) Wong Chung-chun, District Commander (DC) of Border District Lau King-lun, DC of Tsuen Wan District Law Ka-hong and Deputy DC of Airport District Sum Ching-fun officiated at the competition.


To celebrate the 180th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Police Force, the “Let’s Lift 180” Charity Challenge, in which the Commissioner led Force athletes to lift dumbbells weighing 180 000 pounds in total, was especially arranged. Honorary Presidents of the Club Mr Kwok Pui-wing, Mr Mung Hon-ting, Mr Chu Ho-yin, Mr Kai Fung-sze and other benefactors made donations amounting to $180 000 to the Sports Association for the Physically Disabled of Hong Kong, China.


In addition to the pieces of fai chun being posted at the venue for incorporating national security elements, members of the Junior Police Call were invited to join a national security quiz during the breaks to enhance teenagers’ awareness of national security and their affection for the country. The Best Morale Award cum National Security Cup was established to encourage Force athletes to show their spirit of courage in shouldering responsibility and making progress with confidence.
