Commissioner Siu Chak-yee took the salute as the Reviewing Officer at the passing-out parade of 170 members of the X-ray Company of Police Tactical Unit (PTU) on March 7. He hoped that the passing-out officers would uphold the glorious tradition of the “blue beret” and take the lead in safeguarding Hong Kong and the citizens.
In his speech, the Commissioner shared his view that it required four aspects to become an outstanding “blue beret”, namely (i) the decisiveness for prompt actions to turn challenges into opportunities; (ii) the undaunted momentum led by being well-trained and loyalty to citizens to advance beyond boundaries; (iii) physical readiness and mental vigilance at all times; and (iv) the team spirit of synchronised commitment and wholehearted cohesion as a Company and as the whole Force.
The Commissioner also reminded the officers that the “blue beret” maintained an honorable heritage for more than 50 years. He inspired the officers to uphold the X-ray Company motto “Take responsibility to heart, fulfil our duties through action” and become the pivotal force in safeguarding national security while protecting citizens’ lives and property.
