Competition promotes politeness messages The two winners of the Wan Chai District complaint reduction slogan and logo design competition attended an award presentation ceremony on May 21 after being chosen out of 25 entries. Wan Chai District staff were invited to participate in the competition from January to March in a bid to promote quality service as well as prevention of avoidable complaints. The two winners were Executive Officer of Wan Chai District Catherine Wong with the best slogan, and best logo went to Police Constable Terence Wong of Sub-unit Patrol Wan Chai Division. Ms Wong's slogan highlighted the importance of officers' respect and care for others, pointing out people should be prudent about their behaviour and speech. "The slogan is simple and straight forward as I just want to remind my colleagues to be polite in order to reduce unnecessary conflicts," Ms Wong said. The logo designed by PC Wong showed two hands supporting the Chinese character for "politeness". He said he wished to convey the message that politeness was a two-way communication and everyone should be polite to others with sincerity. "I hope people who see this logo will recognise how important it is to be polite, not only for police officers but also for members of the public," he said. The logo and slogan have been printed onto stickers and notices. District personnel can stick the logos and slogans onto their notebooks and place them on their desks and other locations as a constant reminder to be polite at all times when dealing with the public. << Back to Index >> |
