Springing to health with trampolining

A pack of would-be kangaroos turned out for a lesson held by the Police Trampoline Club recently, kick-starting its new series of classes.

Some 20 students participated in the class held in the Police Sports and Recreation Club squash courts on July 21.

Instructors from the club taught students the correct and safest way of jumping, and how to achieve their fitness goals through tramp exercises.

Also supervising the lesson was club chairman, Police Training School Acting Commandant Peter Morgan, who encouraged more staff to enrol for lessons.

"Trampolining is a fun and painless way to keep fit and enjoy yourself at the same time. Basic jumping elevates your heart rate, and incorporating somersaults into your routine can give you a demanding and vigorous workout with double the fun," Mr Morgan said.

"Contrary to popular opinion, trampolining is a safe sport suitable for all ages, although normally only children over seven are accepted. It is a great way to learn simple gymnastic movements and co-ordination without the rigorous training regime required for pure gymnastics."

Those interested in signing up for lessons can contact the club on 2404-3537, 2560-3358, or 2814-4216.
