Central Division PC Wong Kam-min said a crane at a construction site in Kit Chee Street was also on the verge of collapsing and hitting the rooftop structures. Risking their own lives, officers went up and tried to persuade the residents to leave.
Western District PC Tam Siu-ming said his colleagues cordoned off an area in Stanley Main Street when a waterfront embankment was damaged by waves.
