Pyrotechnics fire up Police duties
While the throngs gathered along the harbour front to "ooo" and "ahhh" at the National Day fireworks on October 1, police officers were out in force ensuring safety and fun for all.
Police took on a wealth of duties during the day, which celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the People's Republic, such as controlling crowds, directing traffic and securing ceremonies.
Police officers kept pedestrian flow smooth through MTR stations, footpaths and closed roads around Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui for the pyrotechnic show. Officers also helped secure National Day festivities in several other districts.
Taking more glamorous roles, officers raised the National and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Flags at a ceremony outside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Police Band supplied the sounds at the National Day Celebration Show at the Hong Kong Stadium. Officers also participated in disciplined services marches.
And all this while maintaining law and order across Hong Kong.
