Chasing the dragon

Entries are now open for the annual Nine Dragons Race to be held in Sai Kung next month.

This year's event, slated for November 19, will cover a 17-kilometre course through Pak Tam Chung Country Park to Hoi Ha and back.

The route runs along Pak Tam and Hoi Ha Roads and lady entrants will run the same course as their guy competitors. Although about only four kilometres short of a half marathon, the route is fairly moderate and should see a good turnout of competitors.

It will be made up of nine categories for men, women and teams, and a certificate will be presented to all finishers.

Six of the categories are for runners from the two Kowloon Regions only, while the other three are open to all but Kowloon officers.

Those interested in participating should register with their Training and Staff Relations Officers by October 23, who will forward all entries to organisers seven days later.

A $20 registration fee will be levied on competitors from formations outside the two Kowloon Regions and should be submitted along with entry forms.

Don't miss the deadline or you'll miss out.

The big event starts at 9 am.

However the run will be automatically postponed in the event of any thunderstorm or black rainstorm warnings, or typhoon signals of number three and above, issued or in force at 7 am.

A fallback day is slated for December 3.
