Partial shotgun training a waste?

I must thank the Force for giving me a chance to receive training in the use of shotguns. However, owing to the Force policy of not allowing District officers to have continuous training in the use of shotguns, I have now lost my qualification to use them after a recent transfer from a Regional formation to a District one.

It is wasting Force resources to just provide officers with initial training, and a waste of effort from the officers. Doesn't such a policy run contrary to the Force's objective these days of enhancing productivity?

Reply from Weapons Training Division . . .

The enthusiasm of Detective Lee on firearms training is greatly appreciated. Current Force policy on deployment of shotguns for anti-crime purposes is applicable only to Emergency, Police Headquarters and Regional Crime Units.

To include those officers trained but transferred from the above units would incur extra resources and training time. This is especially true when the total number of initially-trained officers is accumulating every year.

Under the principle of value for money, providing anti-crime shotgun training for officers in formations where shotguns are not deployed for anti-crime duty is not feasible at this moment in time.
