FS visits
PTS youth trainees
Financial Secretary Donald Tsang Yam-kuen visited the Police Training School on November 26 to meet participants in the Youth Pre-employment Training Programme.
Accompanied by Commissioner for Labour Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Mr Tsang was met by Director of Personnel and Training Leung Fung-shun and PTS Commandant Wong Pak-nin.
Mr Tsang sampled the mini-range before visiting the Tactical Training Complex where introductory lectures on weapons were being conducted. He then watched trainees applying some of the tactics they had learned.
The Police is one of seven disciplinary forces offering leadership training for youths aged 15 to 19 under the training programme, to develop leadership skills, discipline, confidence and team spirit.
Due to the overwhelming demand, capacity of the classes has been increased from 720 to over 1,000.
Trainees receive instruction in foot drills, physical education, leadership, team building, first aid, map reading and introduction to weapons. They are also offered workplace attachments in various formations, such as temporary receptionists, library and clerical assistants, to put what they have learned into practice.
