St Paul ups the ante to $200,000!

Paul Keylock has doubled his charity target for the London marathon to $200,000 thanks to the generosity of Force staff.

Since revealing his goal to raise money for the Watchdog Early Learning and Development Centre in the last issue of OffBeat, Paul's been inundated with pledges and cheques from readers.

The public have also shown their support after the South China Morning Post carried his story as well, calling for backing to take part in the event on April 16.

The generosity has quickly seen him reach his initial target of $100,000 which he feels should be doubled. The largest donation received so far has been $10,000!

The school, which is facing a $1.5 million deficit, teaches special-need children such as those with Down's Syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism and a host of other disorders causing learning difficulties. "So far, with the cheques I've received, I've deposited $75,000 into the school's account.

"I really hope this exceeds $200,000 by the time I complete the marathon and receive all the pledged monies because this is a very important school with wonderful kids who really need our help," he said.

His running total was presently about $125,000, with donations from a host of Senior and Junior officers from several formations, including large group donations from the Special Duties and Airport Security Units, along with his own colleagues in Planning and Development Branch.

Please contact Chief Inspector Keylock as soon as possible with your donations, large or small, on 2528-1499. All donations over $100 are tax-deductible.
