District lauds bomb defusing
Yau Tsim Mong District Council members and community groups cheered Police and various government departments on February 28 for their professional handling of the unexploded World War II bomb discovered a week earlier in Woosung Street.
Council vice-chairman Ip Kwok-chung and members along with residents and shop-owners representatives, held a tea reception at a nearby restaurant to thank departments involved for their efforts in defusing the bomb and handling evacuated crowds.
Several officers attended on behalf of the Force including acting Yau Tsim District Commander Fong Kai-cheung.
A survey conducted by local groups found more than 90 per cent of the 600-plus respondents agreed actions taken by the departments were appropriate.
