Quartering Division has launched a new computerised system to streamline application procedures and allocation processing for housing.

The Quartering and Housing System not only reduces the Division's workload, applicants can also save time in completing and submitting forms. An internal trial run of the system was conducted successfully last month according to the schedule for the allocation of Junior Police Officer married quarters. It is now set for formal launch in mid-May.

The system will help ensure value for money and enhance the efficiency of the Division which has been working to improve its internal-operation mechanism.

The Division allocates and manages 12,243 quarters, including 11,635 JPO married quarters, and conducts five allocation exercises a year with over 700 applications received in each.

Applicants can have up to 100 choices on quarters so significant manpower is required throughout the exercises to handle documents and administration. Moreover, each applicant has to spend time unnecessarily in filling out forms and calculating quartering points. The new system will also help streamline these.
