Praise echoed for halting $1m robbery

Two officers of the Police Tactical Unit Echo Company Platoon One were presented with souvenirs of praise on April 19 by a diamond firm for arresting a robber and recovering $1.06 million.
On March 14, a clerk from Wing Hang Diamond Company withdrew the money from a bank in Central and was heading back to his office when a Chilean man snatched the envelope containing the cash and fled.
Patrolling nearby, Police Constables Chan Hang-ching and Lee Chi-chung responded to the clerk's cries and arrested the suspect after a chase. The stolen money was recovered and a knife was found on the arrested person.
Central District Commander Mike Francis, Echo Company Commander Duncan McCosh and Deputy Commander Ma Kam-po attended the presentation.
