Quarter queries simpler than ever

The new Quartering and Housing System (QHS) was launched on May 23, not only simplifying applications using information technology, but also being the first system using POINT for applications and information.

The launch saw a tea reception held at Police Quartering Division with Assistant Commissioner of Police (Information Systems) Peter Halliday handing the system to the PQD through ACP Personnel Tang King Shing. The $2.1 million project was planned and developed by ITB with PQD's assistance over eight months.

The Police Quartering Home Page was launched last August allowing colleagues to access the latest information on various housing benefits. Publicity campaigns were launched in March, with briefings for Training and Staff Relations Officers so they could demonstrate the system to staff. Posters and pamphlets describing and explaining the operation of the system were distributed so officers encounter few difficulties. PQD conducted a number of roadshows at various JPO police married quarters with Division staff answering residents' questions on the new system. Furthermore, PQD and ITB have set up two enquiry hotlines, 2804-1420 and 2860-3444, to answer enquiries on eligibility criteria and system operation.
