It's all safety at sea
Marine Port District and Marine South Division officers launched a two-week water safety campaign on Stanley beach July 15.
The drive was targeted at ship masters and owners, windsurfers and swimmers to reduce accidents at sea during the busy summer months.
Led by Acting MP District Commander Martyn Rees and MS Divisional Commander Lam Cheuk-ping, the event kicked-off with a visit to three sailboarding clubs to advise the surfers on safety aspects such as staying on dry land when a typhoon signal is hoisted.
They then headed to Stanley beach to distribute safety pamphlets to swimmers, while at the same time, Police launches distributed reminders to ship masters and owners on the regulations regarding the new Speed Restriction Zones which came into force on July 1.
