NTS commendations

New Territories South Regional Commander Mike Dowie presented awards to 77 officers on July 14.
The ceremony at the NTS Headquarters Officers' Mess, saw 49 officers presented with Police Long Service Medals and Clasps, 13 given retirement souvenirs and 15 awarded Commanding Officer's Commendations. The latter were praised by Mr Dowie for their outstanding performance in handling a number of cases including the smashing of a drug syndicate following the seizure of 45 kilograms of a mixture containing number four heroin, drug manufacturing paraphernalia and $330,000 cash. It saw the arrest of six people in January and May.
Two were charged with drug trafficking and possession of dangerous drugs. Mr Dowie said the honours cited their excellent work and their long and loyal service to the Police and the community. .
