Safe summer cycling in Sha Tin

The two-wheeled Sha Tin safetython

About 1,500 riders participated in a cycling safety carnival in Sha Tin August 11 to 13.

Organised by the New Territories South Traffic Road Safety Section and Road Safety Patrol, the Yuen Wo Road Playground event saw displays on traffic laws and safe-cycling equipment, game stalls and cycling-skill tests.

NTS Traffic Superintendent Helen Kwong, the Patrol's Luk Choi-lung and Sha Tin District Councillors attended.

The highly popular Tai Wai to Ma Liu Shui route saw about 830 injuries among the hordes of cyclists who rode it last year. The Auxiliary Medical Service and St John's Ambulance Brigade have each set up a first aid point along the route.
