Aussie mariners coast into HK
Rear Admiral Russ Shalders, Director General of the Australian Coastwatch, led a delegation of three to visit Marine Headquarters August 22. They met Regional Commander Spencer Foo Tsun-kong, Deputy RC Ng Chee-kin, Senior Superintendent (Support) Michael Parker, SSP (Administration) Geoff Merrick and SSP (Special Duties) Kenneth Davey.
They visited the Marine Regional Command and Control Centre where they were briefed on the radar surveillance sub-system, fleet deployment, communication systems and the Deep Bay barge and interceptor project, before boarding a launch to Marine West Operational Base in Tai Lam Chung. The Aussie mariners then sampled one of the nimble Courgartek craft to get a taste of policing local waters.
