Causeway Bay shoppers had to rub their eyes and look twice on September 17 when a giant handbag appeared to be careering through the district's streets.
It was actually the launch of Hong Kong Island Region's anti-pickpocket drive at Times Square. A huge genuine handbag atop the HKI Regional Crime Prevention Office display van attracted hordes of onlookers while anti-crime pamphlets and trinkets were distributed around the popular shopping centre and nearby Sogo Department Store.
Wan Chai District Commander Lee Siu-kin and a host of District Fight Crime Committee and Junior Police Call members participated in the event.
