The band move the throng of spectators

The Police Band recently hit the stage in Beijing to perform a host of Western and Chinese classics in a Hong Kong Tourist Association promotional event.

The Hong Kong Showcase saw the Force troupe of 37, led by Director of Music Ng Kam-cheung, fly to Beijing with more than 700 kilograms of musical instruments and uniforms.

During their September 21 to 25 stay, they performed eight shows at the Sun Dong An Complex in shoppers' haven Wang Fu Jing.

"At one point, we had as many as 10,000 spectators. Some of them were tourists making requests for golden tunes from home," Superintendent Ng said.

"But what made us really happy was we were often approached by a large number of locals who just wouldn't let us go!"

Members had little time to go sightseeing around the historic city during their hectic trip and hoped to visit again.
