RC KE Gordon Fung with some of the creative young colouring contestants

Seven officers received prizes from New Territories South Regional Commander Mike Dowie during the presentation ceremony for the Outstanding Chinese Statement Taking competition on November 7.

Mr Dowie presented classy ballpens and other souvenirs to the seven winners at the NTS Regional Police Officers' Mess. The competition ran between June and October to promote greater use of Chinese in the Region.

The top statement takers were: Sergeant Wong Kam-ping, Detective Police Constable Wong Kam-por and PC Lam Kwok-hung of Kwai Tsing District; Senior PC Ng Chiu-wo and PC Wu Kwok-leung of Crime Sha Tin District Headquarters; and, PCs Lee Wai-leung and Wong Pui-kuen of NTS Traffic.

Senior Superintendent Yip Wai-keung, Chairman of NTS Greater Use of Chinese Working Group, encouraged the officers to share their secrets in taking good Chinese statements in the NTS Region Bi-monthly Bulletin.

  • Hikers and other country park visitors were given crime-prevention tips from Wan Chai District and Happy Valley Division officers during a November 5 drive near Wan Chai Gap Park on Black's Link and Stubbs Road. Apart from distributing anti-crime leaflets, officers also pledged to strengthen patrols in the area.

    Wan Chai District Commander Lee Siu-kin, and members of the Wan Chai District Council and Fight Crime Committee officiated at the drive.

  • Kowloon East Region awarded winners in its anti-street deception message competition on November 3.

    Colouring and poster design contests were held for school kids from July to September to promote street deception awareness, and nearly 10,000 entries were received.

    Kowloon East Regional Commander Gordon Fung Siu-yuen, Chairmen of the Sai Kung, Kwun Tong and Wong Tai Sin District Fight Crime Committees, officiated at the ceremony in the Tseung Kwan O Police Station Officers' Mess.
