Over a dozen Police Tactical Unit Zulu Company officers were called to assist in an operation at the Convention and Exhibition Centre on December 20. Their focus? No, not demonstrators. The officers volunteered their spare time to help in the Millennium Rehabilitation Special Evening promoting acceptance and support for the disabled.
Fifteen Z Coy officers helped control crowds and assist the disabled in accessing the venue in a smooth and orderly manner. Commander Nelson Lui Hon-kwok said: "Quite a number of our officers are long-time volunteers working for different organisations, and it is our common goal to make use of our expertise to help worthy causes and live up to the Force Healthy Lifestyle Campaign." He received a letter from Commissioner for Rehabilitation Stephen Pang after the event, complimenting the Coy's support.
