PPRB's replies to the media

A letter was sent to a Chinese-language paper to refute a story published on December 18, which alleged that a court hearing at Tsuen Wan Magistracy, in connection with the human smuggling case in Kwai Chung Container Terminal, was delayed because Organised Crime and Triad Bureau officers turned up late.

The rebuttal stressed the officers were not late and that the Magistrate had not made any criticism of OCTB regarding the procedures for ID parades and detention of arrested persons.

  • A letter was sent to another Chinese-language newspaper rebutting its January 9 report, which alleged that two Police Constables who first arrived at the scene of a homicide/suicide case in Mei Foo Sun Chuen on January 2, would come under investigation. They were alleged to have paid too much attention to the three homicide victims while neglecting to guard the suspect who jumped to his death.

The rebuttal stated that investigations so far revealed that when the officers were enquiring with the suspect and another person at the scene, the suspect suddenly turned and rushed to another room where he jumped to his death. Investigations revealed that no neglect or mistake had been identified in the Police procedures.
