Sevens fever warms up early

Jacko's whacko!: Boof - Paul Jackson clears traffic blocking the tryline

It was warm day of champagne rugby at King's Park, January 20 as the Force sides took on the competition in the Bill Riach Sevens tournament.

The event, organised by the Force in memory of the former officer and avid rugby player, saw some top action as the Police Panthers played three matches, winning two and losing one. Skipper Brian Yung praised the weatherman for bringing warm conditions. "This year was a lot more enjoyable than last year's event, when it was freezing cold," he said.

Meanwhile, the Force's second team also had an interesting day - winning one, drawing one and losing two. They also lost team flanker and orange peeler B.J. Smith who waddled off after the first game with a gammy knee. The injury kept him on the sidelines for the rest of the day.
