Enhance your kids' drive to learn

As a parent, you want to know how to keep your children away from distractions while studying, to motivate their interests in study instead of TV games and to be responsible for their homework.

Children are curious by nature. Unfortunately, the instinct of learning can be dampened and discouraged for various reasons. Some children may still be enthusiastic to learn, but many may need others, such as parents, to inspire and stimulate them.

Why not join the forthcoming family life education program, organised by the Personnel Services Branch Welfare Services Group? You can pick up a few tips from experienced social workers on how to keep you and your children on the right track to learning.

The 'Parenting - How to Enhance Children's Motivation in Learning' programme, aims to introduce effective and practical ways for parents to enhance their children's desire to learn. It will be held May 26, at the Tai Po Kau Interactive Nature Centre. In the morning, professional social workers will speak to parents and lead interactive group exercises for children in different age groups. Participants are also free to visit the Museum of Ethnology, participate in handicraft making and group games, and tour around the Centre's park in the afternoon. All activities will be conducted in Cantonese.

Ticket prices, including shuttle bus fee and lunch are $100 for adults and $80 for children under 12. Disciplined and civilian staff are welcome to join the program with their spouse and children. Coaches will leave the Police Sports and Recreation Club, 9 am.

For registration or more information call the Marine Regional Welfare Office on 2301-1675 from April 24.
