Police Cricket Club Chairman Clive Howard presents his end of season wrap

The Police Cricket Club is alive and well! Despite difficulties in recruiting new players, the Force squad still competed at top level in the 16-team Hong Kong Saturday League. And the annual season, which runs September through March, concluded with a knockout competition at the Hong Kong Cricket Club on March 10.

Police ended at the bottom of the season table despite some very good results. However, the disappointing league result only made the Saturday Plate Knockout win very pleasing. The Club beat Islanders CC in the final in a closely fought game. Notable performers throughout the season were skipper Clive Walton, Tarun Sawney and Gareth Jones.

Meanwhile, the annual cricket sixes competition (J.B. Lees Trophy) saw major formations compete in a short format of the game over one day at PTS. Traditionally, Marine Region and the Police Tactical Unit were the front-runners. Unfortunately, PTU were absent this year and the Marine team, led by the aptly named Chris Ball, took full advantage to beat Kowloon West in the final and lift the trophy.

The Club also competes at international level by entering the Thailand Cricket Sixes Competition held annually in April, in Hua Hin.

Our home ground is the Police Training School and we are very grateful for the continuing support from the Commandant and his staff in making the facilities available.

Force staff interested in a bat or a bowl next season can contact Clive on 2761-8230, for information on joining the Club.
