Force Byte - What's an MBS screen saver?

First of all, we would like to thank readers for their support so far! This issue we will introduce the enhanced Message Broadcast System (MBS) screen saver to you. In fact, you may have seen it on your screen before. It is mainly used to protect your monitor screen. Let's take a look at it!

From August 6, the enhanced MBS screen saver will come into place and provide better protection for your screen. Here are some of the new features:

1. The screen saver will be activated on your monitor when no user activity has been sensed for 10 minutes;

2. The Force Crest will move randomly on the screen to prevent 'burn-in' effects on your monitor (i.e. the burning of an image into phosphor inside the cathode ray tube after hours of the same image being rescanned);

3. The screen will blank out after your PC has been idle for an hour; and,

4. Should you want to use the PC again, you only need to press any key on the keyboard or move your mouse to activate the monitor.

This is only a brief introduction and we hope you have found this information useful. If you are interested in learning more, you should also take a look at the MBS section on POINT.

Next time we will show you how to set shortcut keys for common Chinese punctuation. Finally, please remember to send us your thoughts via PEN at ap2-ss34-a-itb@police.gov.hk.

See you soon!
