Cool new place to workout
ACP OPS Cheung Chi-shum opens the new fitness room |
Police Tactical Unit Headquarters staff can now work up a sweat in air-conditioned comfort, thanks to the July 12 commissioning of a new fitness room.
Assistant Commissioner Operations Cheung Chi-shum officiated at the opening of the 150 square-metre room, converted from two neighbouring squash courts.
The old fitness room was located inside the gymnasium. However, with no air-conditioning and aging equipment, its use dropped. As the squash courts on the gym's first floor were also under-utilised, former PTU Superintendent Training Charles Alison suggested converting the squash courts into fitness rooms. The Architectural Services Department took up the task with help from Planning and Development Branch.
The rooms have been fitted with new weightlifting equipment and gymnastic facilities to give PTU staff a more comfortable environment to gain good health and physical fitness.
