Police Night 2001

Ag Commdt PTS Austin Kerrigan

Looking for something different to do in the evening? Fed up with movies and mahjong? If the answer is yes, and you are looking for an inexpensive, exciting evening's entertainment, why not come along to the Force's Police Night 2001.

Police Night, not held since 1998, will be held again this year. "A proposal to hold the Police Night was put forward at the beginning of the year. Following a feasibility study, it was decided to hold one this year," said Acting Commandant of the Police Training School Austin Kerrigan.

"This year's event, however, will see a return to the more traditional format. The programme will be based on a simple format with the focus of interest on the display of the high standards of music and drill.

"Two nights will be held this year," said Mr Kerrigan. "The first night, December 6, will be the night of the Commissioner's reception. The second night, December 7, will be open to all members of the Force, their families and friends."

Guests will be entertained and thrilled by the massed band and pipes of the Hong Kong Police, Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Band and possibly non-local bands as well. These dedicated musicians will evoke a range of emotions in all members of the audience with their energetic, passionate renditions. A firm family favourite is sure to be performances by police dogs.

In addition, PTS's 'finest' will be on parade displaying their skills in precision marching and silent drill. Marching in creative, dignified formations, members of the audience will not see a foot out of place or a beat missed as these Force members demonstrate this exacting physical display.

Don't miss this spectacular event. Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis. Don't be disappointed. Book early!
