Determined young winner

Focus......

...and determination

He may be only 18 years of age, but Fung Ngai-kong has the drive, determination and focus many of us aspire to.

As the son of a retired UB PC, Fung joined the Police Chinese Wushu Club (Chinese martial arts) two years ago and earlier this year participated in the 20th Hong Kong Chinese Martial Arts Open Championships where he won a second-class award for his Wai Jia boxing display. The championship is organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in conjunction with the Hong Kong Chinese Martial Arts Association.

This young enthusiastic wushu devotee was both surprised and happy to have received his award modestly declaring: "I really only took part in the Championships to observe the true masters of wushu and didn't really expect to do as well as I did. I think I have a long way to go both studying and improving my skills before I can really claim to be a champion."

Fung's interest in Chinese Wushu started when he was a young child. In the ensuing years he has also developed an appreciation of the beauty and grace of the movements incorporated in Chinese martial arts. He also acknowledged that it was an excellent way to stay healthy and fit.
