Double celebration |
|||
Police were busy at work on October 1 to ensure that the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations ran smoothly. In the morning Police raised the National and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region flags outside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Police officers also joined other disciplined services in land and sea parades.
In the evening, the National Day fireworks display called for road closures and crowd control in various favourable viewing spots on both sides of the harbour. The Marine Police, responsible for direction and regulation of sea traffic, made sure Victoria Harbour was safe for this colourful annual celebratory extravaganza. Police officers were also kept busy maintaining order as members of the public flocked to parks and the Peak to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. |
