Youth Pre-employment Training Programme |
||
Three years ago the Police Training School (PTS) joined the Labour Department-funded Youth Pre-employment Training Programme (YPTP). This programme aims to enhance the employment prospects of school leavers aged 15-19 years and comprises four training modules. At present PTS offers a ten-day training programme on leadership, confidence, discipline, physical fitness and team-building. The graduation ceremony for the first batch of 112 YPTP trainees for this fiscal year was held at the PTS Auditorium on November 8. The officiating guests were Commissioner for Labour Pamela Tan, Police Training School Commandant Paul Hung Hak-wai, Legislative Council Member Leung Yiu-chung and Assistant General Manager of Aviation Security Company Limited (AVSECO) Alan Lee. The parents of YPTP trainees and the media were also invited to attend the ceremony. Mrs Tan praised the Force and PTS for their active involvement in YPTP. On behalf of the Force, Mr Hung accepted an Outstanding Performance Award. She also presented an Outstanding Performance Award to Station Sergeant Wong Siu-ming from the Youth Training Team in recognition of his continuous contribution and efforts over the past two years. Mr Lee also gave an interesting talk on the recruitment of YPTP trainees as AVSECO security staff. He believed that the trainees would have a bright future provided suitable training and counselling were provided. Mr Leung and Mr Hung then presented certificates to all successful trainees. The ceremony concluded with loud applause for a humorous play staged by the trainees.
