Two open-top double decker buses travelled along the roads on Hong Kong Island putting across road safety messages to the public on November 11.

The event formed part of the Bus Parade and City Orienteering organised by the Police Traffic Hong Kong Island and the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Hong Kong & Islands) in support of the Hong Kong Island Regional Road Safety Campaign 2001-2002.

Officiating guests included Senior Superintendent of Traffic Hong Kong Island Noel Howcroft, Regional Commander of Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Hong Kong & Islands) Liu Kai-ming, and artistes Choy Tsz-kin, Sharon Kwok and Timothy Cheng Tse-sing.

Guests on board the buses stopped at traffic blackspots on Percival Street in Causeway Bay and King's Road in North Point to distribute road safety leaflets and souvenirs to the public. Meanwhile, more than 80 students took part in the City Orienteering which requires them to use all four types of road crossing facilities to locate five check points in Central and answer questions.

The event was well received by both participants and members of the public.
