The Counterfeit and Forgery
Division of the Commercial Crime Bureau organised a two-day 'Introductory
Course on Payment Card Fraud' at the Police Sports and Recreation Club on
September 20 and 21.
In attendance to hear keynote speakers were 35 officers from 11 formations. Six speakers representing American Express Inc., JCB International Limited, Diners Club International (HK) Limited, MasterCard International, Visa International and Standard Chartered Bank made presentations on "Payment Card Security Features", "General Payment Card Fraud Trends" and "e-Commerce Security and Solutions". Experienced inspectors from the Counterfeit and Forgery Divisions also made presentations on topics including "Modus Operandi of Payment Card Fraud", "Skimmer and Skimming Activities", "Investigation Techniques and Police Strategies for Combating Payment Card Fraud". "It is the first training course ever organised covering payment card fraud," stated Course Director Detective Senior Inspector Yau Siu-kei. "The main objective of the course was to enhance the capabilities of officers from other police formations in combating payment card fraud cases.
