Junior Police Officers' children are welcomed to apply for the McDonald's America Field Service (AFS) Intercultural Exchanges Scholarship.

The non-profit making, volunteer-based programme operates in over 60 countries. One student selected by the AFS for the scholarship will stay with a host family and attend a local school for an academic year.

Applications are invited for the 2002-2003 academic year. The $66,000 scholarship covers round-trip international and local travel, school fees, orientation and medical costs.

Applicants must be aged between 15 and 182 on the departure date. With transcripts proving their academic motivation, applicants must be curious about the world, have the capacity to learn and be eager for the challenges of living in a new culture.

The successful candidate will depart between July and September next year for a country in Asia, Europe, North America or other continents.

AFS will handle the selection process independently. Students may indicate a preferred country but this is subject to AFS's final decision.

Application forms should be sent to Personnel Services Branch Headquarters (Attn: Executive Officer, Personnel Services 2), 1st Floor, Dominion Centre, 43-59 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, on or before December 28. For enquiries, please call 2804-1111.
