New motorbikes in action

Traffic Kowloon West Force Escort Group Woman Senior Inspector Carrie Cheung Pui-kay and her team members highly praised the new Police motorcycle model BMW R850RT after using it in the East Asia Economic Summit in late October.

"Despite the fact that the new motorbike is a bit larger and heavier than the model previously used, it, however, offers greater stability, power and comfort, and enhances officers' safety."

"My team members and I are very proud to be the very first ones to use the new bikes within the Force," she added.

The new motorcycles made their maiden trip in the Summit when a total of 29 BMW motorcycles were deployed to provide close escort for Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

There are 104 BMW motorcycles currently in use in the traffic formations of the five Police land regions, and 42 more are expected to arrive within the next two to three months.
