The Eastern Police District held an anti-burglary seminar for the property management supervisors in the district on November 14 to enhance their awareness against burglaries into residential flats.

Eastern District Commander Barry Griffin pointed out in his opening speech that the efforts of the Police, the cooperation of members of the public and the vigilance of the property management all played an important role in preventing burglary.

The seminar included a briefing on the modus operandi of recent burglary cases by District Intelligence Section Senior Inspector Tong Pak-sum and a talk on the prevention of burglary by Hong Kong Island Regional Crime Prevention Office Station Sergeant Tiu Kin-fun.

Response to the seminar was enthusiastic with 80 property management supervisors and 17 Eastern District Fight Crime Committee members attending.

After the seminar, officers of Eastern District and Police Tactical Unit 'E' Company joined the seminar attendees to distribute some 2,000 anti-burglary leaflets in various housing estates.

Two Fujianese-speaking officers from North Point Division were especially deployed to Chun Yeung Street, the "Little Fujian", so that local residents could better understand the anti-burglary messages.
