Over 5,400 visitors, including officers and their family members, learned much from the Learning and Development Exhibition held at the Police Sports and Recreation Club from November 23 to 25.

Officiating at the opening ceremony of the exhibition on November 23, Deputy Commissioner Management Dick Lee Ming-kwai said that Police officers had to continue to improve themselves in order to meet the challenges and better serve the public in an ever changing and increasingly knowledge-based society.

"People are our most important asset and we will try our best to help them develop and improve themselves. In addition to quality on-the-job training, our officers also have opportunities to attend management and command courses in overseas academic and police institutes," he stated.

"On the other hand, we have been sending more and more officers especially junior police officers to the Mainland to enhance their knowledge about law enforcement agencies, the judiciary and socio-economic situation across the boundary," Mr Lee added.

He said: "The Force is planning to upgrade the Police Training School to an academy to conduct research into police work and to provide professional training courses for both Mainland and overseas police officers."

Organised by the Training Wing, the three-day exhibition featured booths manned by a host of police formations, local universities and institutes to provide information on the wide range of learning and development opportunities available for officers. More than 920 people also participated in seminars and experience-sharing sessions.
