The Tsuen Wan Police District held a "Help People to Help Themselves" fight crime activity at Rhine Plaza in Sham Tseng on October 27.

During the ceremony, the district's Fight Crime Ambassadors' Drama Club was formally established. Club members performed four plays about street deception while the Police analysed the modus operandi shown in the plays.

Members of the senior and youth groups of the drama club come from Sham Tseng Yuen Yuen Elderly Centre and Belvedere Garden Youth Centre of Hong Kong Children & Youth Services respectively. Their performances at the ceremony received loud applause. They will also perform in other areas to spread the fight crime message.

Tsuen Wan District Commander Au Ka-hing said in his opening address that the Police had recruited more than 500 Fight Crime Ambassadors to take part in fight crime publicity activities. He also advised the elderly not to wear valuable items when going out to avoid falling prey to street swindlers.

To attract the attention of passers-by, the ceremony organiser arranged five antique vehicles driven through a Chinese character 'crime'.

Mr Au and other officiating guests including Tsuen Wan community dignitaries then joined the Fight Crime Ambassadors to distribute fight crime leaflets in the district.
