A ceremony marking the conclusion of the 2001 Wan Chai District 'Help People to Help Themselves' Fight Crime Publicity Campaign was held at Wan Chai School on December 1.
A presentation on 'Prevention of Abuse of Psychotropic Drugs' was given by Secondary School Liaison Officer Tse Pui-hung and a Fight Crime Ambassador Certificate Presentation ceremony was held on that day. Over 200 guests including community dignities, Fight Crime Ambassadors and their parents were present. Officiating guests of the ceremony included Wan Chai District Commander Lee Siu-kin, Wan Chai District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC) Chairman Koo Ming-yan and Wan Chai Assistant District Officer Donald Wong. To assist the Winter Precaution publicity, the Fight Crime Ambassadors visited several residential buildings after the ceremony together with Wan Chai officers to explain to the residents the importance of household security. Leaflets and souvenirs were also distributed. With the support of Wan Chai DFCC, Wan Chai District Office and non-government organisations, a series of fight crime activities were organised during the three-month long district fight crime publicity campaign, including an inter-school basketball competition, a camp, anti-drug seminars and anti-crime leaflet distribution.
