A group of 10 officers, led by Senior Inspector Li Kam-piu, smashed five drug trafficking syndicates in covert operations in Tsuen Wan. They arrested a total of 32 persons all of whom were successfully prosecuted.

Another team of five officers, led by Sergeant Lung Wing-ming, broke up a Tsuen Wan triad group by arresting 15 persons. They were prosecuted and convicted.

Mr Dowie also presented Commanding Officer's Commendations to an Acting Superintendent, one Chief Inspector, two Senior Inspectors, three Inspectors and one Sergeant.

He also presented Police Long Service Medals and Clasps to a total of 44 officers, retirement souvenirs to nine officers and a Meritorious Service Certificate to one civilian staff.
